How to Help

Keep Your Neighborhood Clean:

  • Alleys – Pick up trash, no unregistered or junk vehicles, keep yard behind gates trimmed
  • Yards – Pick up trash, mow lawn regularly, use your weed-eater! Maintain patio and lawn furniture.
  • Streets – Pull the weeds that grow along the curb. Pick up trash in the street. Don’t let your children play in the street!
  • Leaf Pick Up – Rake your yard in the fall and dispose of leaves in approved brown paper lawn bags.
  • Help neighborhood children
  • Offer help to your elderly neighbors who cannot easily maintain their own property

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Annual Block Party
  • Block Watch on your street (crime prevention)
  • Other projects as they come up

Our Civic Association is only as strong as our members. Each and every voice added to our membership increases our opportunity to create change in our neighborhood. For only $12 per year, per person, we can create a clean, safe haven for our families and friends to live in.

Current Issues We Are Addressing:

  • Crime and Drug Trafficking
  • Prostitution
  • Absentee Landlords who do not maintain their properties
  • Boarded up homes

The city will be breaking ground on our new school in August 2005. We must put an end to the fear children face walking to school. By adding motion-detectors to our street lights, we can ensure everyone has safer sidewalks to travel on. To help put an end to vandalism of garages and vehicles, American Electric Power will allow residents to put streetlights on AEP poles in the alley behind their homes for $7 a month each. This will be an automatic charge on your electric bill each month. Isn’t the safety of our children and elderly worth it? Also, reducing crime in our area could lead to lower auto and homeowner’s insurance as well as allowing police officers in our area to concentrate on stomping out drug dealers and serious criminals.
